FURNE ONE
FASHION DESIGNER
“YOU NEED HARD WORK AND DILIGENCE. But, you know, there are so many talented designers everywhere so I think you also need a little luck. Being in the right place at the right time. I was lucky.”
The first ever MEGA
Young Designer of the Year (1994) has come a long way. From an apprenticeship with Josie Natori, to garnering first prize at Japan’s Women’s Wear Awards, to becoming a finalist in Manila’s Fashion Designer awards three years later, designer extraordinaire Furne One’s hard work and diligence has earned him a long list of elite clientele.
Furne opened his first boutique, Amato (meaning “beloved”), in Dubai in 2002. His inventive flair produced an unrivalled array of intricately detailed, hand-embellished designs that caught the eye of Dubai royalty. It also piqued the interest of Germany’s Next Top
Model who in 2008, featured Furne One’s creations and thrust both the designer and his line onto the international fashion spotlight.
Global indeed is his talent. Furne One has also made fashion headlines by dressing up the biggest superstars, including supermodel Heidi Klum, and singing sensations Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Nicole Scherzinger, Shakira, and Jennifer Lopez. Amato Couture has also been cited by a long list of celebrities as one of their red carpet favorites.
At the end of the Savoir Faire Perth Fashion Week (Savoir Faire PFW) last April, global fashion bloggers and insiders (stylehunter.com, Style Voyeur, The Fashion Catalyst) described Furne’s show as “possibly the most exquisite show [they] have ever seen” and the collection as “the most highly anticipated collection.”
2012 will be a monumental year for Furne One and Amato Couture with the opening of its boutiques all over the States. One can only expect greater, more beautiful things from this
MEGA Filipino designer.—CT
