With 14 years of experience under her belt, photographer Abi Miguel proves her creative eye is worth trusting
ecoming a part of the creative industry is not exactly an easy feat. It takes a lot of hard work, passion, and determination to get to where you want, especially if society is already filled with both aspiring and established creatives. But that didn’t stop Abi Miguel from taking a leap of faith with a camera in her hands and her head held high as she entered the world of photography way back in 2008.
A SERIES OF FORTUNATE EVENTS
When her husband presented her with a beautiful camera, a Nikon d5000, Abi was beyond ecstatic. She even calls it love at first sight since she was simply enamored with joy the moment she set her eyes on it. This heartwarming gesture sparked the fire in her because what started as a simple hobby of taking photos of different subjects turned into her lifelong passion that eventually led to the creation of her own photo studio, I am Abi Fine Art Photography.
AN ARTIST AND HER MASTERPIECE
Taking inspiration from renowned master artists such as Rembrandt, Edgar Degas, and Johannes Vermeer, Abi’s photographs are often mistaken as actual paintings. This simply goes to show she applies different techniques that all sum up to her own personal style of capturing photos. While one does not fully become an artist without creating something, Abi and her team behind I am Abi Fine Art Photography already work with what they all consider masterpieces.
They firmly believe that “You are your own work of art,” and that’s what they make their clients feel. The advocacy that runs through the veins of each member of the team is what drives everyone to make their clients feel extremely comfortable and confident at the same time. This makes a truly remarkable moment that clients can always look back to, especially since Abi’s guiding light and creativity doesn’t just stay within the actual photoshoot alone, but also extends from the very beginning of conceptualizing and coming up with ideas all the
way down to the release of the stunning photos. She said so herself: “My team and I pride ourselves in giving [clients] the full experience. Our clients deserve the best, and we have to give them an experience that they won’t forget.”
CREATIVE COLLABORATION
With every work she does, Abi thoroughly listens to every client she deals with, making each session a creative and collaborative experience for everyone involved. She comes up with an overall concept based on the input she gets from her clients, while her team, which consists of a production designer, a hair and makeup artist, and a wardrobe consultant, helps in building all of it into fruition. This completely lessens the stress that clients usually get as it becomes a more convenient process for them without having to worry about anything else. Abi also guides them during the shoot itself, especially if they’re having a bit of a difficult time posing in front of a camera. Besides, not everyone’s used to being center stage. She added, “I guide our clients on the best poses that will flatter their figures every time. Different angles for different body types. Through experience and years of studying, I have become especially particular about the position of the hands. More often the hands are overlooked. We have to remember that it is in fact, the small nuances that complete the look.”
