The new demands given to us are, at the end of the day, rules to keep us safe, teaching us to be more vigilant and careful. As the daughter of a nurse, I’ve learned that if we work together we can get through this. Global warming makes the world more hospitable to viruses and bacteria. This probably isn’t going to be the last disease that will come our way if we continue to treat the earth poorly. We need to reflect on how to take better care of the earth, so that the earth can take better care of us.

I understand that this is a scary time and everyone’s freaking out. Many have resorted to panic-buying, becoming more aggressive and hateful. In my opinion, it’s very disappointing and depressing. If only we could focus on giving everyone better education, maybe we’d handle the outbreak better—focus on treating the cause and not the symptoms. —YG
