The younger sibling of S-Maison’s high-end Epilogue, Prologue makes its mark in the resto scene

NEWLY OPENED along Sct. Gandia St. in Diliman, Quezon City is Prologue, a spot that boasts of a fusion of flavors from around the globe grounded by the simple warmth of home. Nestled in the residential part of the Scout area, guests don’t have to drive to the bustling districts of the metro just to experience sophisticated dining. More than its cozy ambience, the place takes pride in the quality of the food, which owner Alyanna Uy claims to be the hook that keeps customers coming back.

As the younger sibling of S-Maison’s high-end Epilogue, Prologue shares the same chef and approach to food and hospitality. But what sets the latter apart is its homey, going-back-to-the-roots concept as the word “prologue” suggests. According to Alyanna, everything that they serve is made from scratch—from the pasta noodles and pizza dough down to their signature truffle mayo dip. They also have their own baking station, which guarantees the freshness of their breads and pastries. And if you happen to come in at the opening hour, you might catch the inviting smell of coffee beans being roasted right in their open-design kitchen.

Cozy atmosphere

Interior-wise, the space has an industrial-meets-country-living motif with its high ceiling, natural lighting, and overall cozy atmosphere. The walls are a mixture of wood, bricks, and bare cement, while the furniture is all black steel paired with wooden tabletops and shelves, which are filled with bits and pieces that you’d find in your own home—books, picture frames, and travel mementos.

For a “neighborhood kitchen,” Prologue offers quite a more refined menu while successfully serving that “comfort food” flair. Topping Alyanna’s highly recommended dishes are her favorite Fried Polenta, the intriguing Adlai Moringa Risotto, the chef’s special Beef Rendang, and, a sure hit to the Filipino palate, the Sisig Pizza. Soon, they will be offering a Western-style breakfast menu for a more well-rounded dining experience.

Prologue is located at 87 Sct. Gandia St., Diliman, Quezon City, open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Call 693 2013 or 0961 3799889.
