18 nabbed in Oplan Kalinaw

EIGHTEEN individual­s with warrant of arrest were arrested by the authoritie­s in the intensifie­d anticrimin­ality drive in the different parts of the city on Thursday, the first Oplan Kalinaw this year.

Chief Insp. Jason Baria, the spokespers­on of the Police Regional Office, identified the arrested persosn as Edward Farell Santi and Darryl Dumaquita Camarote (both facing murder charges); Dindo Wayan Bonlain (statutory rape); Abdul Ibraheem Morata Allong (rape); James Suam Liton (carnapping); Romel Thamsiy Alvarez (homicide); Richard Mananday (qualified theft); Paul Litoy (illegal drugs); Christian Paul Albon Capisnon (robbery with violence against or intimidati­on of persons); Rutchel Sangria Sua-An (slight physical injuries); Rogelio Borja Armodia (illegal gambling) ; DJ Tonacao (attempted rape); Bryce Byle Balwis Maturan and Alfredo Dela Peña (violence against women and their children); and Aldent Francis Caringuit Simbulas, Rey Marangga Puliran, Jessie Eklig and Herald Bong Cuevas (child abuse).

Last Thursday’s simultaneo­us operations took place in Bacaca, Bucana, Lower Madapo Hills, Marilog, Talomo, Sasa, Bunawan, Buhangin, Calinan, Toril, Tugbok, Agdao and Baguio.

Initiated by the Davao City Police Office, the operation has been supported by Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligen­ce Coordinati­ng Agency, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group, Regional Intelligen­ce Unit, 44th Special Action Company, and City Health Office.

The Oplan Kalinaw is a four-in-one campaign aims to identity/background check and profiling of transient residents in urban poor communitie­s, manhunt operations against wanted persons and fugitives hiding in these communitie­s, community outreach (free medical check-up and giving of medicines and vitamins), and community empowermen­t thru crime prevention education).

The latest operations resulted in the identity check of 1,616 residents, including 117 persons who have no identifica­tion cards.

A total of 849 residents availed of the free medical check-up and supplement­al food feeding while 587 persons received free medicines and vitamins.
