Oplan Kidlat launched

THE REGIONAL Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) officially launched Oplan Kidlat or “Krimen Iwasan Droga Labanan At Terrorismo” on Wednesday morning.

Supt. Maximo Sebastian, the RMFB commander said the operation is a “weapon against the imminent threats of terrorism, criminalit­y and illegal drugs in all places of public convergenc­e.”

“It is designed to suppress different atrocities with its integrated array of approaches that will definitely address the region’s demand for a sustainabl­e peace and order,” Sebastian said.

“It is more focused on anti-criminalit­y, target hardening, and formulatin­g a defense system,” he added.

He said they are modeling the new operation on the Oplan Dabaw Kalinaw, which resulted in 11,236 arrests on violators of the traffic code and other local ordinances.

The Oplan Kidlat already started in Bankerohan Public Market where 104 RMFB personnel were during rush hour (3 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.) to conduct beat patrols, awareness campaign, establish police assistance desks, and ensure police visibility.

Oplan Kidlat will last for 10 days, after which members of the police auxiliary unit and barangay security units will continue the operation.

The operation is an initiative of Regional Police Director XI, Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, in coordinati­on with the Office of the City Mayor; public market supervisor’s auxiliary services unit; City Environmen­t and Natural Resources; Land Transporta­tion Office; Barangay Peacekeepi­ng Action Teams; City Transport and Traffic Management Office; Bureau of Fire Protection; Associatio­n of Barangay Captains; Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency; City Health office; City Social Services Developmen­t Office; Task Force Davao; and Davao City Police Office.
