Recidivist arrested

A FELON convicted for illegal drugs was arrested by authoritie­s anew for a drug offense in Barangay Talomo Proper, Talomo District on Friday.

Police Major Ronald Lao, the Talomo Police Station commander, identified the suspect as Antonio Vidal Villar III, alias JV, 45, single, jobless, and resident of Purok 3, Looban, Salakot, Talomo Proper.

Lao said Villar was previously convicted for possession of illegal drugs

under Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehens­ive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) in Davao del Sur.

“He is under probation,” Lao said.

Villar continued peddling illegal drugs to drug users in Davao del Sur and in Talomo area in this city “as his source of income,” Lao said. He said

Lao said the operation to arrest Villar was in coordinati­on with the Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency XI.

Around 8:40 a.m. on Friday at Looban, Villar sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover police buyer for P5,000. Police immediatel­y arrested him.

Two big sachets, containing shabu, placed inside a perfume pouch were also confiscate­d.

A cellphone and P3,000 money, believed to be drug proceeds, were also seized.

The seized illegal drug has an estimated street value of P75,000.

“His apprehensi­on will greatly reduce the proliferat­ion of illegal drugs,” Lao said. The suspect and the recovered evidence are now in the custody of the Talomo police.
