DCWD asked to ensure water supply in Panacan

LAWMAKERS asked the Davao City Water District (DCWD) to guarantee a stable connection in some areas of Panacan and adjacent barangays in anticipation of the Lyceum of the Philippines University township.

Councilor Bai Halila Sudagar passed a resolution requesting the DCWD to ensure potable water connection to phases 1 and 2 of Vista Verde, and Empress Village.

Apparently, the residents expressed their concerns that their water supply will be compromised with the operation of the Lyceum.

“We enacted this resolution to bring this concern to the office of DCWD,” Sudagar said in an interview.

In the resolution, the DCWD admitted that it is incapable of supplying the

water requirements of the Lyceum using its current facilities based on the certification of DCWD acting general manager Mildred Aviles dated Sept. 21, 2016.

“It was mentioned on the same certification that to meet the demands of the said water supply for Lyceum, the DCWD needs the full implementation of the proposed Tamugan Surface Development Project,” the resolution stated.

Complementary facilities such as cistern or storage tank and booster pump are also need. Moreover, there is also an need to install a 200mm pressure sustaining valve in order to maintain adequate water pressure.

There are 35,806 concessionaires in Barangay Panacan; 52,386 in Barangay Sasa; and 14,381 in Barangay Pampanga.
