Cop promotions hinge on tummies

-

CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City -- The Police Regional Office (PRO4A) Calabarzon on Thursday directed anew its personnel to be physically fit, noting that police officers with big tummies have to shape up as this would be included as a requirement in the next promotional process.

“I shall oblige those who have protruding tummies to reduce in two months. It would be included as requirement in the next promotional process. Those who shall not adhere to this order shall be the least priority during promotions,” Calabarzon Regional Director, Police Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza said in his speech during the mass oath taking and donning of ranks of 1,886 newly-promoted police corporals.

“Bear in mind that rank and promotion are not only a reward of what was done well, but recognition that each personnel has the potential to do more. Let this new rank serves as an opportunity for everyone to double efforts to serve our people and the country,” he said.

Carranza personally led the changing of the shoulder bar or the rank insignias of the promoted police officers.

“Promotion shall not only be accompanied by the increase in salary. It should be coupled by hard

work and accountabilities. It requires a higher level of competencies represented by the rank insignias in your shoulders,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, chief of the regional police public information office, told Philippine News Agency (PNA) the donning of ranks covered newly-promoted Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) with the rank of Patrolman to Police Corporal.

Gaoiran said the simultaneously mass oath-taking included 76 police corporals from the Regional Headquarters; Cavite Provincial Police Office (PPO) – 389; Laguna PPO – 392; Batangas PPO – 390; Rizal PPO – 271; Quezon PPO – 250; and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) - 118.
