-

GLOBE myBusiness, the micro, small and medium enterprise arm of Globe, joined the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in celebrating SME Week by honoring every entrepreneur for their significant contributions to nation building.

DTI has declared the second week of July as SME Week based on Republic Act No. 9501, Sec. 16 which pushes to “promote entrepreneurship by strengthening development and assistance programs to micro, small, and medium scale enterprises.”

Through its Saludo SMEs campaign, Globe myBusiness pays tribute to the determination and passion of small entrepreneurs despite hardships and failures which test them along the way. Globe myBusiness has also partnered with several organizations such as the DTI, Association of the Filipino Franchisers, Inc. (AFFI), Homegrown Brands’ Acceleration Franchise Formation Inception (HAFFI), Manila Workshops to bring conferences, seminars,

workshops, bootcamps and franchising opportunities to MSMEs this month.

Likewise, Globe myBusiness ran an online contest to promote business owners and reward their customers. Customers were asked to take a selfie with a local SME product and post on FaceBook for a chance to win one of the following prizes: (2) winners of Samsung S10e phones, or (5) winners Php 30,000 cash prize. The five most shared SMEs will be featured at the Globe myBusiness Academy website and FaceBook page.

To further celebrate SME Week, Globe myBusiness gives the public a peek into the lives of business owners through a special Video which shows how they were able to reach their dreams through grit and hardwork.

“We are proud of our SMEs who continue to breakthrough and achieve success even if they have to encounter a lot of obstacles and setbacks,” said Cleo Santos, Sales Head of Globe myBusiness. “We believe that SMEs represent an important sector in the Philippines and are the backbone of the country’s economy that is why we are always ready to help them in their entrepreneurship journey.”

Santos also expressed her gratitude to thousands of MSME owners who have placed their trust in Globe myBusiness to be their partner in providing affordable, leading edge business solutions and services that help make their businesses futureready. “We continue to look into the challenges faced by Philippine SMEs. We are glad that through our digital solutions, we are able to help them address these challenges in order to increase profitability and achieve growth,“ she said.

Likewise, Globe myBusiness provides programs through the Globe myBusiness Academy to educate SMEs on various aspects of running a business. Aside from seminars and workshops, it has an online learning site designed to provide entrepreneurs with easy access to lessons and insights from industry experts anytime and anywhere they may be.

At present, SMEs make up 99.6 percent of all registered businesses in the country and employ over 70 percent of the working population. However, a recent study conducted by the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada shows that productivity in this sector remains low due to factors such as limited access to market, finance, human resources, and technical and management knowledge.
