San Miguel’s Lassiter out for six weeks with MCL sprain
MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel sharpshooter Marcio Lassiter is out for six weeks after suffering a knee injury during the Beermen's do-ordie quarterfinal game against NorthPort on Wednesday evening.
Lassiter banged knees with NorthPort's Garvo Lanete late in the second quarter, and had to be subbed out of the game immediately. He did not return.
The Beermen went on to win the game, 90-88, to advance to the semifinals. Lassiter had 11 points on 3-of-4 shooting before leaving with his injury.
San Miguel team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed to ABS-CBN News that Lassiter was diagnosed with an MCP sprain type 2 on his left knee, and will be out of action for six weeks.
SMB coach Leo Austria acknowledged that Lassiter would be a big loss for the Beermen as they progress in the playoffs of the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
"Marcio, alam natin he's a floor spacer and he's a twoway player. I hope he can recover in the next round because he's really important in our rotation," he said.
