AT THE KADAYAWAN VILLAGE
SEVENTY-nine year old Datu Jaime Epi of the Ovu Manuvu tribe played a soothing “prayer and welcome” song on the kulintang with gusto. After his excellent performance he quickly turned a bamboo cutting with a masking tape and the word “donation” on it. I was quicker to ignore it. LOL.
Seriously, guests at the Kadayawan Village in Magsaysay Park, Davao City, may look for the donation boxes if they want to contribute something to the 11 tribes of Davao that display their indigenous houses. Or they may try to sample the goodies for sale there like calamansi puree, pastil, and others.
“You should come over on Saturday and Sunday because we have many events on weekends,” a Kagan foodstore attendant told a couple of guests from Manila.
Maybe I will.
