Six local roads pushed to be adopted as nat’l roads

SIX LOCAL roads are pushed to be converted to national roads on the proposal passed by the City Council on Aug. 6.

The six roads include Lacson-Lamanan-Megkawayan-Malabog road with a length of 18 kilometers; Calinan-SubastaTag­akpan-Mulig-Bangkas Heights-Toril road with a span of 24 kilometers; junction Davao-Bukidnon roadCalina­n-Talomo River-Biao Joaquin-Talandang-New Carmen-Magtuod road with a span of 26 kilometers.

Also included are Mintal-Tacunan-Matina BiaoBiao Escuela-Los Amigoscirc­umferentia­l road with span of 18.5 kilometers; junction Davao-Bukidnon road-Lomondao-SalaysayDa­lag-Arakan road with 15 kilometers; and Mintal-Bago Oshiro-Davao Cotabato old road with a distance of kilometers.

Gene Lozano, engineer at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 2nd District Engineerin­g Office, sent a letter to the City Engineer’s Office chief Joseph Dominic Felizarta.

The letter recommende­d the conversion of the roads due to high volume of traffic.

“This office recommend the conversion since (the roads) are maintainab­le, serviceabl­e, and are greatly utilized by the riding public which are among the criteria for road conversion to national road,” said Lozano in the letter.

The letter was endorsed to Councilor Jesus Joseph Zozobrado III, chair of the commitee on public works and highways.
