Ngilngig to Roll out Film Lab: A series of Filmmaking workshops
THE NGILNGIG Film Lab will be a series of film workshops to be held this August 17-18, 24-25 and September 3-8, open to all aspiring Mindanaoan filmmakers.
This initiative was organized under the Ngilngig Filmmakers Development Program to help Mindanaoan filmmakers, including Ngilngig Film Camp fellows, to produce their developed scripts into a film. It features in-depth discussions on theory, technical consultations, and actual onsite training by established Mindanaoan filmmakers. Ngilngig started as a horror-genre festival and has since expanded its scope to be the first Fantastic film festival of its kind in Southeast Asia. It has extended its reach to neighboring countries’ own ngilngig and Fantastic films that exhibit distinct ways of storytelling to preserve myths, traditions, history and culture in cinematic form. The first Ngilngig Film Lab workshop will be held on August 17, 2019 (Saturday) at the Swito Innovation Hub Coworking and Makerspace, located at GSIS Matina Crossing. Led by Keisha Halili (Pulangui, 2018) and Bagane Fiola (Baboy Halas, 2016), the workshop will tackle film producing in Mindanao for independent and regional film festival releases. It will also introduce national and international film festivals’ film submissions and development programs. The succeeding Ngilngig Film Lab workshops to be held on August 18, 24-25 and September 3-8, will focus on Directing, Sound production & design, and Cinematography respectively.
