Welcome ceremonies for vessel today
MANILA -- The Philippine Navy (PN) will hold arrival and welcoming ceremonies for the BRP Conrado Yap (PS-39), the latest addition to its fleet, at Pier 13, Manila South Harbor, Tuesday afternoon.
This was disclosed by acting PN public affairs office chief Lt. Cmdr. Maria Christina A. Roxas in a message forwarded to reporters Sunday.
The BRP Conrado Yap (ex-South Korean ‘Pohang-class corvette, ‘Chungju’, will be welcomed, along with strategic sealift vessel BRP Davao Del Sur (LD-602), which escorted the former to Manila from Jinhae Naval Base, Changwon City since their departure there last August 12.
Prior to assuming its escort role, the BRP Davao Del Sur participated in Russian Navy Day activities off Vladivostok, Russia last July 28, arriving in South Korea early this month.
