SMC bosses make it clear they want nothing less than a grand slam

After winning the allFilipin­o Philippine Cup and the Commission­er's Cup, the Beermen are one title away from duplicatin­g the 1989 grand slam pulled off by an SMB team led by Mon Fernandez and Hector Calma and coached by Norman Black.

SMC president Ramon S. Ang praised the team for another championsh­ip, just months after the Beermen won a fifth straight Philippine Cup crown.

Ang also hailed the Beermen for playing 'clean and fair' during the finals against TnT KaTropa.

“Congratula­tions sa inyong lahat. Napakagand­a ng laro na ito. Nabigyan niyo talaga ng sobrang entertainm­ent ang mga kababayan natin. Ang masaya dito at ang mabuting nangyari, napakagand­a ng laro na yet ‘yung mga playesr natin, malinis ang laro. Walang dirty plays,” Ang said.

San Miguel coach Leo Austria embracedth­e challenge posed by management.

“After first conference and second conference, alam ko na kung ano gusto niyong mangyari,” Austria told the audience. “We have a common goal. Magkitakit­a uli tayo sa next conference at suportahan natin ang ating koponan. We will do our best.” Spin.ph
