DC spikers aim high in Batang Pinoy Natl. C’ships
DAVAO CITY – Davao City’s youth spikers are in high hopes to achieve medals when they play in the 2019 Batang Pinoy National Championships this August 25 to 31 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The girl’s indoor volleyball team which placed second in the regional finals held in Tagum City will banner the city’s hopes when they play with other contingents in scheduled weeklong sporting spectacle. They will also be joined by the girls and boys beach volleyball squads which finished silver and bronze performances, respectively.
“There are no seeded teams, so all we have to do is play our best every game,” said D’Artagnan Yambao, chief coach of the Davao Volleyball Association (DAVA) who will join the rest of the coaching staff which includes Henry Labio, Dinri Yambao and Rolando Puno.
Members of the Davao City girls indoor volleyball team are Johanna Alquizar, Jaben David, Irina Glenne Escandor, Katharina Espero, Rosmar Jelin Evangelio, Jana Igna, Cahre Ishel Nablea, Alshaila Noro, Khey Pablo, Marian Polancos, Allexa Mae Quilaton, and Rika Sasaki.
Its girls’ beach volleyball team will have April Joy Locaberte and Khalia Sinsuat while the boys’ squad will banner Jayrad Adeva and Ryu Ampan.
The Davao City girls indoor and beach volleyball teams took part on Monday’s (August 12, 2019) Davao City Athletes and Coaches Recognition night wherein they were acknowledged by Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte and Mikee Aportadera of the City Sports Development Division Office.
The Davao City volleyball squads will be among the 10,000 atheletes, coaches, technical and delegation officials from all over the country expected to take part in the 31 sporting activities.
