SOS Football Cup holds 14th edition

DAVAO CITY – The SOS Children’s Village Football competitio­n reels off this October at the Tionko Football Field with some 36 teams expected to see action.

These teams will compete in the Under 13 Boys (cut off year 2007), Under 15 Boys (cut off year 2005), Under 19 Men’s (cut off year 2001) and Under 17 Girls (cut off year 2003) categories using the seven-a-side format with 12 to 15 players in a squad.

“We will be having the Group Stage wherein teams will play in a single round with the top two ranked squads move on to the next round or the Knockout Stage. The Knockout Stage will follow the cross-over matchup with the winners earning a trip to the finals,” Noel Presto, assistant competitio­n director of the Davao-South Regional Football Associatio­n (DRFA) on Thursday’s Davao Sportswrit­ers Associatio­n (DSA) Forum at the SM City Davao.

Games are played every Saturdays with playdates on October 5, 12 and 19 for the Group Stage and on October 26 for the Knockout Stage and finals.
