DCPO cited as outstandin­g police unit

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has been recognized by the Philippine National Police (PNP) during its 118th anniversar­y Thursday for being an outstandin­g police unit in the region.

In a ceremony held at Camp Sgt. Quintin Merecido here, Col. Alexander Tagum, DCPO director, thanked Dabawenyos for “supporting and trusting” the local police.

Tagum who was also cited as the “Best Senior Police Commission­ed Officer for Operations” assured Dabawenyos that the local police will double its effort to serve and protect the city.

“With this recognitio­n and acknowledg­ment, I would like to assure the people of Davao that we will do everything to secure and protect the city,” he added.

M/Sgt. Jonathan Cadenas also received the “Best Senior Police Non-Commission­ed Officer for Operations” recognitio­n, while the Talomo Police Station was recognized as the “Best Women and Protection Desk.”

A plaque of recognitio­n was also given to Davao City Mobile Force Company for being a finalist during the selection of unit awardees for Best City Mobile Force Company Category at the national level.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Marcelo Morales, Police Regional Office-11 chief, lauded the PNP units in the region exceeding “beyond the call of their duties.

“I am very proud of every policeman and nonuniform­ed personnel, who have served this regional office with resilience and honest dedication and for keeping Davao Region as safe as possible for all our people despite many challenges,” he said.
