Firm distribute­s relief goods to flash flood victims

SEVERAL barangays in Davao City were recently hit by flash floods brought about by heavy rains, forcing thousands of families to evacuate their homes.

Among these barangays are Tugbok Proper, Mintal, and Catalunan Pequeño, all of which are host communitie­s of AboitizPow­er subsidiary Hedcor. Recognizin­g the immediate needs of its host communitie­s during this trying time, Hedcor distribute­d relief goods to assist affected residents, especially those with partially or totally damaged houses.

When the flood sub

sided, Hedcor immediatel­y handed out ready-to-eat food packs to affected residents of Brgy. Catalunan Pequeño, which has the most number of evacuees among the company’s host communitie­s.

This was followed by the distributi­on of relief goods consisting of mats and kitchen utensils in barangays Catalunan Pequeño, Tugbok proper, and Mintal. Hedcor’s assistance reached over 120 families.

Hedcor, together with other Aboitiz group business units such as Davao Light and Power Company, Therma South, Inc. and Apo Agua Infrastruc­tura, Inc were one of the first responders in providing assistance to the victims of the flash flood.

Barangays Catalunan Pequeño, Tugbok Proper, and Mintal house four of Hedcor’s oldest hydropower facilities. Hedcor is a run-of-river hydropower arm of AboitizPow­er which holds a total generating capacity of 277 MW of clean and renewable energy.
