Mindanao, Papua New Guinea forge investment partnership
PORT MORESBY, PNG – Mindanao Development (MinDa) Sec. Emmanuel Piñol and Papua New Guinea (PNG) Central Province Governor Robert Agarobe signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strengthening investment and business partnership this week, capping the Mindanao trade and business mission, which started last Sept. 3.
Areas of partnership forged were on agriculture, shipping, and mining sectors. The MOU signing was witnessed by PNG Prime Minister James Marape and Philippine Ambassador to PNG Bienvenido Tejano.
During the Investment Workshop and Business-to-Business Matching last Sept. 4, Piñol also presented the Mindanao business and trade opportunities to the PNG business executives and private sectors.
Specifically, he mentioned that PNG can look into rice trading, processing, and production with Mindanao, as well as chicken poultry, timber products, and mining operations.
This trade mission is one of the international roadshows lined up by MinDA to promote the economic potentials of Mindanao in the global market.
