19 fugitives arrested

NINETEEN fugitives were arrested Thursday in the latest round of Oplan: Kalinaw in various urban poor community in the city.

Col. Alexander Tagum, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, said the simultaneo­us operations also resulted in the identity and background check of 1,395 residents, including 26 persons without any valid identifica­tion card.

Tagum said those arrested were facing various criminal cases in the courts.

Arrested were Ricky Cuestas Cadeliña (parricide), Oldever Goc-ong Edaño (murder), Val Lungay Dasalla and Alexander Ponsades Aparese (rape), and Mark Eugine Laride Villarubia, Felix Egam Gallogo and Darwin Hibaya Luy (illegal drugs);

Reynaldo Rosite Combras (illegal gambling), Marlon Jay Perlas Villarubia (theft), David Jan Roche Vallejos (no helmet while driving motorcycle), Liezel Masayon Oga and Sarajane Escaro Bayang (qualified theft);

James Mathews Grasparil Doromal (falsificat­ion of public document), Jerome Lebrando Villegas (attempted rape), Kenneth Centillo Retuerto (illegal gambling), and Lucia Pocot Chavez, Nelly Rasonable Bregente, Cora Chavez Cartagena, and Cresil Salarde Restauro (child abuse).

Tagum said the operations were simultaneo­usly conducted in the police areas of Sta Ana (Mangahan, Barangay 19-B), Talomo (Sanggilang­an, Barangay Ma-a), Sasa (Sarmiento Subdivisio­n, Barangay Panacan), Buhangin (Purok Kalayaan, Barangay Buhangin Proper), Bunawan (Purok 8, Barangay Tibungco), Paquibato (Purok Orchids, Barangay Paquibato Proper), Toril (Bario Ogok, Barangay Crossing Bayabas), Tugbok (Deca Homes Subdivisio­n, Barangay Tacunan), Calinan (Purok 4, Barangay Lacson), Baguio (Purok Everlastin­g, Baguio Proper) and Marilog (Sitio Maharlika, Barangay Baganihan).

The Task Force Davao, Philippine Coast Guard, Regional Mobile Unit, National Intelligen­ce Coordinati­ng Agency, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Criminal Investigat­ion and Detection Group, Regional Intelligen­ce Unit, 44th Special Action Company, Davao City Treatment and Rehabilita­tion Center for Drug Dependents and City Health Office aided the DCPO in the operations.

Aside from identifyin­g residents in urban poor communitie­s and to arrest fugitives, Oplan Kalinaw is also a medical mission and an anticrime prevention education.

A total of 1,436 residents availed of the free medical and dental check-up, supplement­al food feeding, and 369 persons received free medicines and vitamins.

The five-hour activity ended at about 10 am.
