Zambo mayor eyes localized hotline
ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has asked the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to expedite the localization of the 911 hotline number for easy access during emergencies.
Salazar has also asked the city’s two congressional representatives to bring the matter to the House
sentatives to accelerate the establishment of a local 911 emergency hotline in this city for a faster response during emergencies. Salazar said Monday that she has spoken with Diosdado Valeroso, executive director of the Emergency 911 national office under the DILG, citing the need to have a localized 911 in line with the city’s thrust to attain a more progressive and resilient city. At present, the mayor noted when one dials 911, the call is diverted to a central command center in Manila, causing inconvenience and delay in the actual process of emergency response.
