UM among Davao schools certified Autonomous and Deregulated Status
THE UNIVERSITY of Mindanao (UM) and its two branches were recently granted Autonomous and Deregulated status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
UM Digos campus is granted Autonomous Status for the first time, while UM
Tagum Campus is granted Deregulated status as per Memorandum Circular No. 12, series 2019 of CHED.
UM Main campus also has its Autonomous Status recertified. These certifications warrant the university full control over its academic affairs and policies.
The CHED gave the recognition, with a twoyear effectivity, to six private learning institutions in Region XI.
To date, there are 71 private tertiary schools in the country that are granted Autonomous status and 16 with Deregulated status.
