DCWD welcomes new director

Davao City Water District welcomed Engr Romel Alfredo R Rutz as the newest member of the Board of Directors representi­ng the Profession­al Organizati­ons. He was appointed by Mayor Sara Z. Duterte for the term effective October 4. 2019 until December 31, 2024.

Engr. Ruiz earned his Mechanical Engineerin­g degree from the Cebu Institute of Technology. He served for 32 years in the City Government of Davao under the City Engineer s Office/ Office of the Building Official as Mechanical Division Head 11986 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019). Inspection and Enforcemen­t Division Head (2011 to 2014), and Administra­tive and Legal Division Head (2014 to 2017).

In 2017, he was appointed as the Acting Assistant City Engineer for Administra­tion and in 2018, concurrent Head of the Infrastruc­ture Projects Monitoring System under the Office of the City Mayor until his retirement in September 2019.

Engr. Ruiz is a recipient of various recognitio­ns in his field among which is The Outstandin­g Mechanical Engineer (TOME) Award in the Field of Government Service awarded in October 2014.

Addressing DCWD employees during the October 2019 convocatio­n Engr Ruiz expressed his sincere appreciati­on and recognitio­n to the City Mayor for the trust and confidence and assured his commitment to craft policies that will redound to efficient, fair. and cost-effective service for Davao City.

He officially took his oath before DCWD Board of Directors Chairperso­n Eduardo A. Bangayan on November 11 2019 The oath taking was witnessed by the other BOO members namely, Dir. Ma Luisa L. Jacinto. Dir. Helen D. Paguican, and Dir. Rogeho G. Largo. (Jamae G. Dela Cruz)
