7 ‘pushers’ nabbed in GenSan anti-drug ops

-

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- An alleged drug pusher was wounded and arrested along with seven other suspects in separate “one time, big time” operations here on Monday, a police official said.

Maj. Rexor Jake Canoy, spokesperson of the city police office, said the suspects were nabbed during the simultaneous implementation of 10 search warrants that resulted in the recovery of at least five illegal firearms and PHP60,000 worth of shabu.

Canoy said the warTHE

rants issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 35 Judge Oscar Noel were for possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Canoy said suspected pusher Ronald Barnachea was shot on the leg by operatives from the Makar police station after he resisted arrest during a raid at his house in Purok Bagangga, Barangay Apopong.

“He attempted to draw a caliber .38 pistol so our operatives were forced to restrain him,” he told reporters, adding Barnachea yielded another caliber .357 revolver, 11 assorted bullets and five sachets of suspected shabu.

Citing a report from Maj. Ananias Vasquez, Makar police chief, he said Barnachea was a known drug pusher in the area.

A summary report submitted by the city’s eight police stations identified the other arrested suspects as Reynaldo Centino of Purok Changco, Barangay Bawing; Rogen Revillas of Barangay Batomelong; Wilfredo Rimpos of Purok Malinawon, Barangay Labangal; Michael Mondido of Barangay Labangal; Jonas Conde of Purok Udagre, Barangay Conel; and Ranny Aliman and Alberto Alaba of Purok Islam, Barangay Dadiangas South.

Confiscated from the suspects were 35 sachets of suspected shabu worth around PHP60,000 and five handguns with 27 ammunition.

A report from the Bula Police Station said Alaba, who yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu, was just released from the city jail early this year.

It said Alaba was arrested in a buy-bust operation in 2011 and eventually convicted of selling and possession of illegal drugs.
