For a third time in four seasons, Barangay Ginebra has a chance to once again win a PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Gin Kings are in the Finals of the third conference after a 3-1 semis win over Northport and they’ll face a familiar foe in the Meralco Bolts.

Ginebra beat Meralco for the title in 2016 and 2017.

As the trilogy looms, the Gin Kings know this one will be tough as well.

“[Playing] Meralco, certainly we’re not gonna be in an advantage,” head coach Tim Cone said.

“Certainly at a disadvantage because we played them twice and we beat them twice and they're gonna be super hungry to play us,” he added.

Still, there’s reason to like Ginebra’s chances at another title win.

With this current batch of Gin Kings under coach Tim, two of their three titles came in the third conference.

One came with a game at the Philippine Arena in front of a record crowd. Games 6 and 7 will be at the massive Bulacan facility.

“I don't know why, but through the years most of my teams have done well in championships in the third conference, the Governors' Cup. I don't know. Maybe it's the year-end [thing],” Cone said.

“I understand there might be some games in Philippine Arena already. That's what I heard. If that's the case, at least we played there before and we know the routines so that'll help us out,” he added. ABSCBNSPORTS
