NAIA ready for passenger influx

-

MANILA -- The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said on Saturday it is ready

for the expected influx of passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as the holiday season ends.

Help desks manned by personnel of MIAA and the Civil Aeronautics Board will continue to assist passengers, while police and medical teams will continue to be visible at the four NAIA terminals.

From January 1 to 6 last year, NAIA received 202,204 domestic passengers and 223,436 international arrivals.

For the first two days of 2020, MIAA recorded 64,736 domestic arrivals and 80,168 passengers arriving from other countries.

These figures show that more Filipinos are traveling abroad to celebrate the holidays, MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said in a statement.

Monreal also requested the Bureau of Immigration to make its personnel available to avoid long queues at immigration counters.

Police visibility was increased at the arrival areas, according to Monreal.

The Airport Police was also tasked to assist in managing the traffic flow at the airport.

Monreal said he was expecting a smooth flow of arrivals in all four NAIA terminals, and reiterated that his staff is ready to assist them. (PNA)
