DCWD finishes pipeline improvement projects
THE DAVAO City Water District has completed two pipeline improvement projects for Dumoy Water Supply System (WSS) on Aug. 15, 2019.
These were the pipelaying of 400mm diameter steel pipe transmission line along Bago Gallera Road to Davao-Cotabato Highway and pipeline improvement along Talomo Road from junction Puan along Talomo Road to DavaoCotabato Road.
It can be recalled that the construction of the said projects necessitated water service interruptions which took place on June 15 to 16, 2019 and July 24 and 26, 2019 affecting areas served by Line 2 of Dumoy WSS and on July 10 to 11, 2019 affecting areas served by Line 1 of the same WSS for the tapping works of its pipelines.
With the commissioning of these two transmission lines, friction loss from Dumoy field wells to Talomo Pumping Station has been reduced thus, increasing the input volume of water supplied to the pumping station. In turn, this increased availability of water supply and pressure for the service coverage areas of Dumoy WSS.
Based on DCWD’s post-evaluation, water supply has improved in areas near DILG Matina, Governor Generoso Bridge, Jacinto Street corner Quezon Boulevard, and Gempisaw corner Sta. Ana Avenue.
These areas used to experience intermittent
water supply especially during peak hours of water use. The completion of the projects also improved the water supply and pressure in areas served by Line 1 of Dumoy WSS because of the 9,000 cubic meters per day added volume to the Dumoy system.
Dumoy is DCWD’s largest water supply system that serves approximately 71,000 service connections under Line 1 and 60,000 service connections under Line 2.
DCWD thanks its customers for their cooperation and understanding.
DCWD also assures its customers of continuous implementation of water service improvement to provide 24/7 water supply with adequate pressure.
