Jeremiah Gray’s defensive gem saves day for new-look Alab
SAN MIGUEL Alab Pilipinas hacked out a nail-biting 77-76 win to overcome Hong Kong Eastern at Southorn Stadium.
Jeremiah Gray came up with a game salvaging block against Jon Siu in the dying seconds to preserve the victory for the Filipino club, which raised its record to 6-3.
Alab led by as many as 19 points against Eastern, but the Hong Kong-based squad wiped out the lead with a mighty run in the fourth.
Siu scored the triple that gave Hong Kong its first taste of the lead 72-71 lead with 4:39 remaining.
Sam DeGuara and Nick King came up with back-to-back baskets that shoved Alab ahead, 77-76.
Alab, however, committed a crucial turnover in the final 7 seconds paving the way for a possible Eastern comeback.
It was at this point when Gray caught Siu's 3-point attempt and saved the day for Alab.
King led Alab with 24 points, while Prince Williams and De Guara added 14 and 12, respectively.
