Clark sends off first direct flight to GenSan
LOCAL officials and business leaders inaugurated today a commercial flight at the Clark International Airport which ushered the direct air connectivity between General Santos City and Clark, Pampanga. This follows the first General Santos – Clark direct flight the previous day inaugurated in General Santos City.
The General SantosClark
air connection was spearheaded by the local government units and business groups of General Santos and Pampanga with the support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Strengthening Urban Resilience for Growth with Equity (SURGE) Project. The new flight is expected to stimulate more trade and tourism linkages between the two areas.
Senator Manny Pacquiao, Department of Tourism Regional Director Carol de Guzman-Uy, Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda, General Santos City Mayor Ronnel Rivera, and USAID/Philippines Office of Economic Development and Governance Director Jeffrey Lehrer attended the inaugural event along with other local officials and key business leaders.
Since last year, several partnerships and sisterhood agreements between General Santos City, Angeles City, San Fernando City, Mabalacat City, Clark Development Corporation, and various General Santos and Clarkbased tourism councils and business groups were forged to pursue economic cooperation that will benefit not only the cities but also surrounding localities.
