THE FOUR-STORY building for the new city library is expected to be completed this year, an official said.

Salome Enoc, City Library and Information Center (CLIC) officer-incharge, told TIMES in an interview that the completion of the building is targeted in August.

“We have already accomplished about 97% on the construction of the building,” she said.

The completion of the building was originally targeted to be finished in April 2019. However, budget constraints pushed back the timeline. Work resumed after the city government approved the supplemental budget for its construction.

The new public library is located along C. Bangoy Street in Barangay 34D, near the fire station. It would become the second library that will be open for 24 hours, after the Cebu City Public Library and Information Center.

On the order of former mayor Tomas Osmeña, the Cebu City library started in its 24/7 operations on March 9, 2018.

The new Davao City library will contain a cafeteria, children’s library, conference room, and an information technology hub. The public library is currently located at the third floor of the Sangguniang Panglungsod building along San Pedro Street, which opens from 7 a.m until 7 p.m.
