Music of the Night, a Valentine’s Day concert

MEMORABLE Broadway songs, popular movie themes, Filipino art songs, Original Pilipino Music were featured at Music of The Night: A Valentine's Dinner Concert held at the Grand Regal Hotel on Feb.14, 2020. Added to the night’s repertoire were familiar opera selections and also contempora­ry songs that made the evening something to remember. Featured male singer was Marvin Gayramon, a baritone. He is a Master of Music Applied Voice graduate under the tutelage of Fides Cuyugan Asensio. Marvin is currently finishing his Ph.D. at the Philippine Women’s University School of Music and is one of the most sought-after classical singers and music theater performers in the country today. He has toured extensivel­y around the Philippine­s and key cities in Asia, the United States and Canada, participat­ing in music festivals, competitio­ns, and concerts. Marvin has sung with the Philippine Philharmon­ic Orchestra as a soloist in Handel’s Messiah. Bach’s Mass in B Minor. Romberg’s song of the Bell and Orff’s Voice 2002 in Montreal Canada. He won first runner-up in the NCCA Sining Gising Kundiman Competitio­n in 2020 and won first prize in the 1996 National Music Competitio­n For Young Artists Collegiate Solo Voice Category. Marvin establishe­d his own vocal academy in Butuan City called the Easthetics Voice Studio where he mentored numerous vocal talents that include The Voice Season 2 Grand Winner Jason Dy and Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 3 Grand Winner Elaine Duran. Soprano Marian Santiago was the featured female singer at the concert. She is a Soprano Graduate of 2009 from the University of Santo Tomas under the tutelage of Professor Thea Perez. Her genres are Classical, Pop, Broadway and Standards. She played the tole of Tuptim of Rodgers and Hammerstei­n’s The King & I at Resorts World Manila, a former member of Philippine Opera Company’s “Ang Bagong Harana, which toured Canada and the US. Marian was one of the lead actors of Singapura the Musical in Singapore in 2015. She pursued a semester with the guidance of Professor Marvin Gayramon as her voice mentor for further studies in Master of Music Major in Music Education with an emphasis in Music Performanc­e at the Philippine Women’s University. Currently, she sings for events with the Manila Philharmon­ic Orchestra, Bernie Pasamba String Ensemble, Nightingal­e Strings Manila, Pipo Cifra Production­s, Radio Veritas and aspires to be a YouTube music vlogger with her partner Adrian James Bartolome. They are known as James and Shine, Music Box Live. Present at the concert were Hilde Bontia – Owners Representa­tive/Consultant, Violy Briones Casianan – Asst. General Manager, Grand Regal Hotel Officers, Ernesto Macasaet, Chief Security Officer and Domini Sebastian Del Rosario- Marketing and Communicat­ions Manager. Our host for the evening at the Grand Regal Hotel was a good friend Domini Sebastian Del Rosario.
