UP-Min experts to give lectures on architecture
EXPERTS from the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao will give public lectures in architecture, literature, and the cinema in the Tandiwan Mindanao Architectural Research Symposium to be held in SM City Davao Annex Building Activity Center on 22 February 2020 beginning at 3:00 p.m.
Prof. Myrafe S. Ylagan will speak on “How to check if your house is vulnerable to flood,”Prof. Isidoro R. Malaque III on “Social Construction of Housing and Architecture: An Overview,”
Prof. Ryan C. Songcayauon on “Between Buildings and Roads: Understanding Davao City’s Urban Green Spaces,” and Prof. Micah Amor P. Yares will speak about “Exploring Residential Satisfaction
and Public Perception of Socialized Housing Developments in Davao City.”
Faculty members of the Department of Humanities will also deliver craft lectures. Instructor Lakan D. Umali will give a talk on “Exploring Portraits of the City in the Poetry of Isabelita Reyes and Conchitina Cruz” and Prof. Jay Jomar Quintos will speak on “The Raptures and Ruptures of Siting: Exploring the Cinematic and Architectural Spaces in Select Mindanawon Films.”
The Tandiwan Symposium is co-organized by the United Architects of the Philippines-Davao Chapter and by the UP Mindanao Department of Architecture, as a public offering in the celebration of the 25th Founding Anniversary of UP Mindanao on the theme
“25 Years in Mindanao, for Mindanao and beyond.”
