Cop for returning lost wallet

-

SANTOS CITY (MindaNews) – A policewoman who returned a lost wallet, which she found along with her husband from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), was commended for her honesty Monday in nearby Malungon, Sarangani province.

The wallet contained around P32,000 cash and valuable documents.

Malungon Mayor Tessa Constantino praised Police Lieutenant Jonie Ocampo during the weekly management command meeting attended by local government officials and department heads for returning the wallet owned by John Tano, a worker of Summit Transport and Tours.

Ocampo and her husband, Major Rey Ocampo, an AFP personnel, found the wallet at the parking lot of a mall here late last week, the municipal information office reported.

Constantino noted the couple’s example is worthy of emulation.

“Good deeds will leave a trail to the hearts of others,” Lieutenant Ocampo said, adding that she was raised to return things that were not hers.

She is the daughter of retired Police Major Doroteo Tan and Police Superintendent Nilza Tan.

Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Yago, Malungon police chief, earlier commended the honesty of Lieutenant Ocampo.

Tano, the wallet’s owner, presented a plaque of appreciation to Ocampo in the presence of the mayor and the municipal police chief.
