COTABATO CITY --A provisional provincial Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) training center will soon rise in the province Sulu in a bid to bring Bangsamoro Government services closer to its people.

The Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) signed a memorandum of agreement with the Hadji Buto School of Arts and Trades (HBSAT) on 21 February 2020 for the establishment of the provincial training center.

“I would like to thank HBSAT for agreeing to host the TVET training center,” said MBHTE Minister Mohagher Iqbal.

Under the agreement, the HBSAT will provide a space for the provisional training center.

The MBHTE through its technical education and skills development arm will utilize the space in putting up workshops for the training programs.

“The training programs will include agriculture and construction-related skills development among others,” said Iqbal.

With the establishment of the training center,

TESDA-BARMM Executive Director Ruby Andong is optimistic that more Bangsamoro constituents in Sulu will benefit from the project.

“The training center will transform the lives of our brothers and sisters in Sulu,” said Andong.

The MBHTE is also tasked to train HBSAT technical-vocational teachers and help the school improve on its technical-vocational capability.

Iqbal said the establishment of the training center also contributes to efforts creating an enabling environment for sustainable peace, justice, and prosperity in the Bangsamoro.

“We are slowly reaping the benefits of peace since the creation of the new Bangsamoro Government under the Duterte administration,” said Iqbal.

He added more investments are coming in to BARMM because of region’s favourable peace and order situation, which is a result of the peace accord and the establishment of new Bangsamoro regional government.

“We need to ensure that the region is ready to produce skilled workers for existing and upcoming industries in the BARMM,” said Iqbal.

Iqbal said the training center is hoped to supply skilled workers for industries in the province of Sulu and nearby areas.
