TO FORMALLY commence the implementation of formal education in multi-grade levels for the residents of the Home for Girls and Women, OIC-Regional Director Grace Q. Subong, representing DSWD XI, and Ms. Ma. Lita Montalban, School President of the Emar Human and Environmental College, Inc. (EHEC), signed a memorandum of agreement on February 27 at the Ritz Hotel, Davao City.

In the agreement, the EHEC will provide two teachers to conduct daily classes inside the center for elementary, high school, and senior high school levels.

On the other hand, DSWD will provide the residents with the necessary learning materials, uniform, school bags, and classrooms for the conduct of the same.

The Home for Girls and Women, located at Jail Road, Maa, presently shelters 55 women and children in especially difficult circumstances with the end goal of eventually reintegrating them to their families and to the communities.

The partnership is effective until February 2025. (DSWD XI)
