Pinay in Kuwait positive for virus

MANILA – A Filipino woman in Kuwait tested positive for coronaviru­s disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Philippine embassy in Kuwait confirmed on Thursday.

“The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait regrets to inform the Filipino community that a female domestic worker is the first confirmed Filipino case of the Coronaviru­s Disease 2019 in Kuwait.,” it said in a statement.

The Filipina domestic worker reportedly had close

contact with a person who traveled recently to the United Kingdom. The embassy said the patient is now in a “stable condition” and that the Philippine government continues to monitor her case. Meanwhile, the embassy also reminded all Filipinos in the Gulf state to stay at home, follow the instructio­ns of Kuwaiti authoritie­s, and stay healthy. In a separate bulletin, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that a Filipino also contracted the disease in Macau. The patient, who is a nonresiden­t worker in Macau, is the 15th case of COVID-19 infection recorded in the Chinese special administra­tive region. The Consulate General in Macau remains in close contact with the local authoritie­s on the details of the patient’s travel history, the DFA said. (PNA)
