300,000 families eyed for relief goods: mayor
THE city government is looking at providing relief goods to about 300,000 families.
This developed as Mayor Sara Duterte bared that as of yesterday, 14,000 goods were delivered to beneficiaries in Matina Aplaya as of yesterday.
She said Thursday that the distribution has hit a snag because repacking of relief goods take time.
“As there are so many goods to distribute to several families in the city, we have to extend. We are slowing down because the repacking team cannot catch-up with our distribution for dispatching,” she said.
“We need to ensure that the fulltime operating trucks will be safe while transporting these goods. So the weekends will be intended for the maintenance check and the distribution
will be resumed on Monday,” she said.
She also said that the city government and the CSSDO have opened a helpline to cater to clarifications, queries and complains regarding the rationing. “This channel will able people to direct their issues regarding the ration cards and the relief goods distributions, as we are constantly receiving questions and queries about these matters,” she said.
She also said that this will prevent people from being confused on to where they can direct their complains and questions.

Duterte said there will be a “validation on the ground” for the families who will receive from the relief goods operations of the city.
“Hangtod karon nagpadayon gihapon ang atoang relief goods operations. . . We are looking at 332,626 families subject to validation dinha sa atoang barangays,” she said.
“Our estimate is that we might be releasing everyday with the large quantity of relief goods that we have,” she said, noting that it was impossible to cover all barangays in just two to three rounds of relief goods distribution.
“Ang estimate pud namo, (it) might be ang mahitabo we release everyday sa kadaghan sa atoang mga ginarelease na mga relief goods, we might possibly be releasing everyday para sa atoang mga relief goods,” she added.
Sheh said the issue is that “we can give (relief goods) good for two weeks, but the problem is our repacking cannot immediately catch up on time. If we wait for them to repack again goods for two weeks, there will be a delay of distribution to other barangays. So the decision is there will be a continuous releasing of goods.”
The city mayor said in a previous interview that the delivery of relief goods to barangays is in a slow pace because of the challenge in transportation as the dump trucks carrying the goods could only capacitate a limited number.
