- By Nicole Burlas

THE DAVAO City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) has launched the “Bankerohan on Wheels: DCCCII Tulong-Bayan Program,” an initiative in sustaining the food supply in the city during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

“Through this project, consumers can buy their groceries, vegetables, fish, and meat items within their barangays without going to public and supermarkets to lessen their risks of infection from the COVID-19 coronavirus. In this way, we can enhance the effectiveness of the ECQ,” said

Cherrylin Casuga, DCCCII vice president.

The program is a mobile market that provides service to people by bringing them fresh and affordable fish, fruits, vegetables, and other basic food supplies.

Aside from sustaining food supply, the program is also to address social distancing, encourage people to stay indoors, and provide assistance to certain sectors in mitigating the effect of ECQ.

Local vendors and residents are expected to benefit from the said

project by providing market opportunities for vendors and accessibility for residents and buyers.

The project is in coordination with the city government, through the City Agriculture Office and Association of Barangay Council.

Aside from the program, DCCCII is also coordinating with different institutions and organizations to formulate more plans and programs that will benefit the business community.

Schedule and location will be posted weekly on the DCCCII’s Facebook page and the Bankerohan on Wheels: DCCCII Tulong-Bayan Program will be commencing soon, it said in its press release.
