Davao Oriental expands marketing venues for OTOP


CITY OF MATI, Davao Oriental – The province of Davao Oriental has continued to expand the marketing venues for its producers and processors as it opened another store for them.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office establishe­d the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Mercado, or OTOP Store, in a bid to widen the market reach of locally processed products at the municipal level. The office took the launching of the local government unit (LGU) of San Isidro’s Food Hub Market Day on March 18, 2022 in Mati City as the best opportunit­y to open the store as well.

The OTOP Mercado, which is being implemente­d in partnershi­p with the Technical Education and Skills Developmen­t Authority (TESDA) and

Department of Agricultur­e (DA), is the second marketing venue for OTOP in the province. The first one is the OTOP.Ph Hub in Tagawisan, Mati City. This is a pasalubong center that DTI-Davao Oriental launched last year.

Under its concept, the OTOP Philippine­s serves as “a priority stimulus program” for micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSMEs) wherein the government’s interventi­ons are customized according to the identified needs. This aims to drive inclusive local economic growth as it enables the concerned localities and communitie­s to get involved in the process – from the determinat­ion and developmen­t to the promotion of their own products or services.
