Digihub-FabLab co-facilitates 3D printing training workshop
TO PROMOTE additive manufacturing in medical applications, the Digihub-FabLab Davao co-facilitated FABHealth 2022: 3D Printing for Head and Neck Presurgery Planning last March 12, 19, and 26, 2022.
A total of 95 participants surgeons on the transformafrom different parts of the tion of DICOM files to STL Philippines attended the training, files using Slic3r/Osirix, edit2 of whom are from ing of the 3D models using Davao City's Southern Philippines Meshmixer, 3D file preparation Medical Center (SPMC) using Cura and hands-on ENT-HNS department in the operations of 3D printers. FABHealth 2022 intends modalities simultaneously to continue its initiative on in different locations in the training the head and neck Philippines.
The training was made successful thru the collaborative effort of partner FabLabs, namely: FABLAB Mindanao of MSU-IIT Iligan City which is the current Quality chair of recently established FABLABs PH Network; ENTHNS Mini-Maker Space of Zamboanga City Medical Center; LIKHA FabLab of Batangas State University Alangilan
Campus; FabLab Bicol of Bicol University; SSF FabLab Eastern Visayas of Philippine Science High School - Eastern Visayas Campus; and Digihub-FabLab Davao of University of Southeastern Philippines.
Various industry partners also supported the training such as Puzzlebox3D Philippines - Ultimaker, medical partners, the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (Northern
Mindanao Chapter), Zamboanga City Medical Center, Southern Philippines Medical Center, Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center, and the Philippine Academy of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.
