Driver and 2 helpers nabbed at checkpoint

A HEAVY equipment driver and his two helpers were arrested after shabu was seized from them while passing through the checkpoint in Barangay Lacson, Calinan District on Sunday, April 24.

Capt. John Louie Dema-ala, the Task Force Davao spokesperson, identified them as Rogelio P Miraña, 42, resident of Greenland Subdivision, Cainta, Rizal; Rolando R Manaytay, 43, resident of Pentail St., Anak Paris, Cainta, Rizal; and Jerico Coste Jr, 23, single, resident of Louisville, Panacan.

According to Dema-ala, the three were on board a yellow wing van type with plate number NGT 2067 bound for Barangay Ma-a when three sachets of suspected shabu and two improvised tubes with drug residues were intercepted from their possessions while passing the checkpoint.

The authorities reported that the captured contrabands weighs around 0.17grams with an estimated street value of P2,700.

The three were turned over to the Calinan Police Station for the filing of appropriate charge for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
