- BY MAIMONA WANDA LAO

THE CITY Economic Enterprise (CEE) generated P200,479,369.86 million from its income-generating projects in 2023, representing a 12.8% increase against the P177.7 million in 2022.

During the iSpeak forum on Jan. 25, Maximo Macalipes Jr., CEE officerin-charge, said the 12.8% increase was equivalent to P22.7 million.

“Gwapo ang atoang resulta sa economic enterprise for the year 2023 kay ni-bounce back na gyud ta after the pandemic. Looking back at the strategies na gihimo namo sa 2022, gipadayon lang gihapon namo siya sa 2023, that’s why we were able to generate more revenue ((We already bounced back from the pandemic based on the good showing for 2023. We continued our strategies from 2022 into 2023),” Macalipes said.

The office collected 99.32% of its P185.63 million target in 2019; 66.77% of the P197.46 million target in 2020; 65.28% of the P215.14 million target in 2021; 88.42% of the P200.98 million target in 2022; and 99.48% of its P201.53 million target in 2023.

Macalipes said a significant portion of the total collection in 2023 could be attributed to market operations, which generated P128,176,406.20 million.

Cemetery operations generated P19,312,232.81; slaughterhouse operations generated P32,761,194.05; and special projects division operations generated P11,475,511.94, among others.

Market operations hit 113.81 percent of the P112.6 million target and the other economic enterprises surpassed the P10.2 million target by 198.33%.

Macalipes also urged the public to support and avail of the services offered by the city to help increase its revenues.

“Amoang gina-encourage ang tanan nga i-patronize na pud ang crematorium services na atong cemetery operations sa Wireless, para mu-generate pa pud ta og more income (We encourage everyone to avail of our crematorium services at Wireless Cemetery),” he said.

Macalipes said the CEE will prioritize additional projects and continue to implement the standards and policies benchmarked by neighboring municipalities to further boost its performance for this year.
