It was only in 1996 when the Integrated Body Arts pioneered Pilates in the Philippine­s with its fullyequip­ped Pilates studio. Pilates became popular owing to its “body friendly, anatomical­ly-correct type of workout that targets and elongates every single group of muscles.”

Fast forward to 2024 and you have the Davaoeno Sash Resurrecci­on, more popularly known as Sasha the Pilates, opening his very own fitness studio called “Align Pilates Studio” at the second floor of the Poblacion Market Central along C. Bangoy Street. The popular Sash is a highlyskil­led and certified Pilates teacher with over 11 years of working experience at the

Breathe Pilates Singapore. For those who personally known him, the physically fit Sash graduated from the Ateneo de Davao University with a Bachelor of Management degree. During his student days, Sash was an active volleyball player, dancer, and choreograp­her rolled into one dynamic personalit­y.

Sash utilized the comprehens­ive Stott Pilates method using core stability to guide clients to generate the best neuromuscu­lar performanc­e possible for their fitness goals. Sash teaches his students to balance muscular strength and flexibilit­y safely with breathing as a fundamenta­l element. “It was Ian Micabalo, the owner of Corework Pilates at the Patio Valencia Corporate Center of Davao City, who provided me with the opportunit­y to pursue a career in teaching Pilates. I am a certified Stott Pilates method instructor; and I have the expertise in understand­ing human biomechani­cs. I am also skilled in client assessment and goal setting. I am wholeheart­edly committed to an ongoing learning and developmen­t in the field of Pilates teaching,” said Sash during the grand opening of his very own studio last February 17, 2024.

“Establishi­ng the Align Pilates Studio is the culminatio­n of my years of dedication and passion for teaching Pilates. I was pioneering in conducting group Pilates classes in Davao. I gave clients more Pilates class choices to fit their schedules; and group Pilates classes are cheaper compared to private oneon-one classes conducted. In my Align Pilates Studio, our vision is to create a vibrant community where individual­s are empowered to move better, feel better, and live better,” revealed Sash.
