The Katipunan branch of the Jesi Mendez Salon is the newest addition to their ever- growing franchise. Floor- to- ceiling glass panels give the salon, which sits in Regis Center, one of Katipunan's trendiest spots, a bright atmosphere. The salon has partnered with L'Oreal Professionel and Wella, creating a perfect harmony of well- trained stylists and top of the line products.
According to Senior Stylist Angel Sagal, this season has seen them doing a lot of mohawks and fauxhawks for male patrons who frequent the salon. The ladies, on the other hand, mostly ask for big curls and waves. For coloring jobs, ash colors and ombre seem to be the salon's trendiest.
I was fortunate enough to try the Jesi Mendez Salon's Permanent Wave ( P2,000 for short, P2,500 for medium, P3,000++ for long). Instead of the extravagant spiral curls of other perms, it gives you softer curls, simulating the shape and volume of natural wavy hair. True enough, the end result saw dramatic waves which gave me thrice the volume of my actual hair, while still managing to look very natural. Also worth mentioning is the fact that the chemicals they use for the Permanent Wave do not have the same intense sting of regular perm solutions. You can definitely smell something, but it will not leave you tearing up and coughing.
Aside from cuts and coloring, Jesi Mendez Salon Katipunan has a wide variety of scalp and hair care treatments like hair spas and masks.
