Sun Sets

Ever experienced that light bulb moment, that needed bolt of energy, or that sudden groove once the clock strikes one (in the morning)? You’re up all day, trying to get all the inspiration and motivation to power through finishing an article, artwork, or any task, yet it feels like your brain is stuck, wasting daytime, actually waiting for nightfall. Rapper Mito Fabie attests, “I think at night is when most of my anxieties kick in. So, it’s kind of therapeutic for me to write instead of wasting my time worrying.”

He is not alone. In our November issue, we sought out people and places that thrive at night. The night scene is not only limited to the inebriated or the occasional violent acts we usually hear about or read about moments after we wake up. “They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night,” Edgar Allan Poe once said. A whole different world comes alive at night, where uncommon characters living a different grind come out to play.
