DTI-OrMin to hold ‘2018 Consumer Congress: Isang Dekada ng Adbokasiya’
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Oct. 10 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office will hold its ‘2018 Consumer Congress: Isang Dekada ng Adbokasiya’ following the theme, ‘Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer’ at Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Barcenaga, Naujan on October 12.
According to DTI Provincial Director Arnel Hutalla, the activity aims to motivate and challenge consumers to be vigilant and gain commitment and support of government consumer protection agencies in enhancing programs and projects relative to consumer welfare and protection.
The month of October is declared as Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) based on Presidential Proclamation No. 1098. The celebration will focus on various impacts of digital technologies such as online selling. DTI continues to remind the public, through its advocacies and other forms of information dissemination, to be vigilant against unscrupulous online businesses.
Expected to attend the congress are consumer organizations, business establishment/ organizations, local price coordinating councils, market administrators, ConsumerNet members, media, among others.
The activities on the proposed program include DTI’s discussions on ConsumerNet, Making Digital Marketplaces Fairer, Prevailing Prices of Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities, Financial Management for Consumers, DTI Suking Tindahan, International Standards and Fourth Industrial Revolution, and Sectoral Planning on Consumer Protection Activities for 2019.
There will also be an Open Forum and recognition ceremony which will award the Consumer Quiz Bee Winners, DTI Suking Tindahan, Most Active Local Price Coordinating Council, DTI Bagwis Awardees, Diskwento Caravan Partners, Consumer Organizations, Consumer’s Choice and Media Partners.
