Si­tio Bi­naluan lights up its Christ­mas tree

Si­tio Bi­naluan res­i­dents to­gether with Pilip­inas Shell Foun­da­tion Inc. (PSFI)-Palawan made a bam­boo Christ­mas tree with a so­lar pow­ered Christ­mas lights.

Pro­gram Man­ager Marvi Trudeau said that they don’t want to bur­den the com­mu­nity with the cost of elec­tric­ity for the lights so they put up one with so­lar power.

“We did not want to bur­den the com­mu­nity of the power [elec­tric­ity] lalo na for Christ­mas tree kasi ako din per­son­ally pag ako nag lala­gay ng christ­mas light bago ako mat­u­log tin­u­turn off ko ma­hal ang ko­ryente di ba and I feel for them you can’t do it this way you put a Christ­mas tree and let the com­mu­nity peo­ple in kaya nga ni­la­gay namin doon ay so­lar pow­ered christ­mas light every morn­ing ma­matay yan pag kagabi sisindi na lang yan on its own,” Trudeau said.

“It still sym­bol­izes re­new­able en­ergy.” she added.

What makes it spe­cial is how they see the re­ac­tion of the peo­ple es­pe­cially the chil­dren.

“Nakita niya yung mga bata how they re­ally like it ‘ay ang ganda talaga ate so­brang ganda’.Ako to see them like that yun ang nakakataba ng puso,” she said.

Shell ex­pects the com­mu­nity to take care of it and sus­tain it.

Si­tio Bi­naluan is one of the six places in Palawan that ben­e­fit­ted from Save, In­vest, Nur­ture Ac­cess to Green En­ergy (SINAG) pro­gramme.
