It has come to that time of the year when Filipino families will gather at movie theaters to support the Metro Manila Film Festival and watch their movie of choice with their loved ones. This year, eight films made it to the MMFF list of official entries to the prestigious film festival.

Here’s a list of MMFF 2018 films that Puerto Princesans and Palaweños may watch at SM Cinema on Christmas Day:

Directed by Yam Laranas, this mystery thriller stars Anne Curtis who plays the role of Leana, a woman living on a small island with her younger sister. The film revolves around Leana who is tasked to find missing dead bodies from a passenger ship that sunk nearby their town.

A fantasy-comedy starring the phenomenal unkabogable Vice Ganda along with Bela Padilla, Dingdong Dantes, and Richard Gutierrez, Fantastica tells the story of a carnival that is targeted by corporate expansion. Vice Ganda and friends seems to protect the carnival, which apparently the key to open the portal to Fantastica, a fantasy realm with princes and princesses.

The Girl in the Orange Dress

This film narrates the story of Anna played by Jessy Mendiola who is a conservative girl who wakes up after a night out to find herself in a five-star hotel room with Rye played by Jericho Rosales, the hottest celebrity in the country. With no memory of what happened, Anna finds herself spending time with Rye as she avoids the media and fans swarming outside.

Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles

Vic Sotto, Maine Mendoza, and Coco Martin star in this action comedy film. It follows the adventures of three police officers, Jack (Martin), Em (Mendoza), and Popoy (Sotto) as they catch thieves and other bad guys. Expect action film tropes like exploding cars, shootouts, and hiding around container vans, along with Sotto’s signature humor.

Mary, Marry Me

Revolving around themes of sisterhood and relationships, real-life sisters Toni Gonzaga and Alex Gonzaga star in their first film together. It tells the story of two sisters both named Mary, who have always been close to each other. Things between them start to go awry when the younger Mary (Alex) decides to marry Peter (Sam Milby), Mary Jane’s (Toni) ex-boyfriend. MMFF 2018 films also include Rainbow Sunset, Otlum, and One Great Love.
